Batchelor; mother – Darya Timofeevna Andreeva Short description of personal combat feat or accomplishment On 14 April while conducting a reconnaissance of the German’s frontlines and depth of the defensive area near the Kuestrin bridgehead and Goldev from the battalion’s lead observation position in the infantry formations, Comrade Andreev discovered and established the coordinates of the two enemy mortar batteries and three machinegun positions which were suppressed by the 2 Battalion’s artillery fire. On 22 April 145 as one of the first to enter the Berlin suburbs he radioed back the locations of enemy firing positions and engaged in street fighting together with the motorized infantry of the 19 Moto-Mechanized Brigade. As a result of his fire directions, the battalion destroyed a 75mm cannon and two machinegun positions situated in a building. Having been wounded in both legs, Comrade Andreev continued to conduct a visual reconnaissance of the enemy’s firing positions and only left the battlefield after being ordered to go to the hospital. He is deserving of the Order of Glory II Class.
