Sickle and Grain Medal

I thought that this looked like a Soviet medal with the Sickle, but I am used to seeing it with a hammer, not with grain.

Is this a fake medal?

Your help would be much appreciated!

Re: Sickle and Grain Medal

This doesn't look to be from the Soviet Union or a communist nation. To me it looks more Agrarian than Socialist. It also won't be a state or ministerial award of any nation but more likely a farmer's union or agricultural society award. Without additional information (such as an inscription or maker's mark) it could be from almost anywhere in the first half of the 20th century.

http://soviet-awards.com/forum/sovie...xhibition.html is an example of an Agrarian award with wheat and sickle. It was awarded by a society in the Tsardom of Bulgaria to a company operating in Greater Germany immediately before the Germans went to war with most of Europe. What's more is it was awarded to a company that made military materiel.

Re: Sickle and Grain Medal

Hi CtahhR,

Thank you so much for your kind reply.

I thought too in seeing the grain instead of the hammer that it might not be Soviet.

I very much appreciate your time to look at and answer my post.

Regards,

Fedor
