Re: airforce uniform
It's and Air Force Captain's parade uniform. Ribbons, if they belong with the uniform, say he was in the service in 1977 (60th anniversary of armed forces) and served honorably for 10 years. (Ribbons would normally go with service dress, medals with parade) Dates on the back of the buttons may help nail down the vintage as well. As for what it's worth....whatever someone will pay for it. It's a nice example but they aren't especially rare.

Re: airforce uniform
I think Jeff nailed it; though I am not sure the ribbons belong on it?

Re: airforce uniform
The cap is dated 1985.
As for the ribbons - they could go with parade walking-out jacket, but their khaki background suggests that they were taken from some field or everyday uniform. After all, in the 80's an officer would often have just one uniform for parade and walking-out use, so the bars had usually some easy attachment (pinback boards being most common). Also the bars and the badge seem to be a bit too low. According to the regs., they should be 70mm below lapels' "><" centers. But such violations did happen Last edited by Al-muell; 12-03-2009 at 09:17 AM. Reason: more info |

Re: airforce uniform
I don't think neither the badge nor ribbon bar belongs to the uniform. But the set is nice otherwise. Are you looking to sell it?

Re: airforce uniform
The badge is also usually not seen on air force uniforms. Pilot wings would make it look more accurate.

Re: airforce uniform
That's a good point. I haven't noticed that before as lately I've been involved in a little argument about specialisation badges for the VDV officers and they did wear standard ground forces badges. But that's right - air force officers had their own specialisation wings. So simly put, you should change either the badge or the collar insignia.

Re: airforce uniform
But without all the badges the uniform is ok?
