Bravery Medal.

The Bravery Medal (Արիության Մեդալ) is the highest Medal of the Republic Of Armenia. Founded on 26th July 1993 and revised on 9th August 2014. It has only been awarded 230 times in the last 8 years. Awarded for bravery in state service.

This is #1277, made by the Saint Petersburg Mint. It has the wrong ribbon (Combat Service Medal) and is almost identical to the NKR http://soviet-awards.com/forum/sovie...ice-medal.html The only difference being the position of the space for the serial number.

Awarded in June 2002 by Decree #1106 to Vardan Sargsi Avagian.

Avagian was born in Kurtan near Stepanavan on 2nd September 1958 and was killed in action in Martakert Region on 27th April 1994, very soon before the ceasefire (12th May 1994).

On 10th May 2016 he was officially added to the list of fallen soldiers of the Stepanavan Region whose family were entitled to monetary payments (10,000 Drams).
