Jubilee Medal "65 Years Of Victory In The Great Patriotic War 1941-1945".

This is the official Jubilee Medal for 65 years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941 - 1945. It was instituted on 4 March 2009 by Ukaz nr. 238 of the President of the Russian Federation.

Interesting. The ribbon seems very close to the one of the Medal for the Capture of Berlin.

So it seems indeed. Also interesting that the Medal for 50 years of Victory featured the OPW, the 60 years of Victory the Order of Victory and this one the Order of Glory.

I guess we will be seeing this medal in wear on the pictures from Victory Day 2010. I had actually espected this medal would have been instituted in March or April 2010.

The anniversary medal « 65 years of the Victory over Great Domestic war 1941-1945 » — has the form of a circle in diameter of 32 mm. On a face sheet of a medal — the image of an award of Glory I of a degree, between the bottom beams of a star — figures « 1945 — 2010 ». On the back medals, in the center, — an inscription: « 65 years of the Victory over Great Domestic war 1941-1945 ». Edges of a medal are bordered by a side. All images, inscriptions and figures on a medal relief. The medal by means of a ring incorporates with pentagonal колодкой (I do not know how on English!), the fitted silk moire tape of red color. Width of a tape — 24 mm. In the middle of a tape on five strips; three black and two orange, everyone in width of 2 mm. Extreme black strips are bordered by orange strips in width of 1 mm.

I think it's "koladka"? Which means "suspension": the piece that the medal is suspended from.

That's the second photo I've seen today with the veteran wearing his medals in what appears to be his personal favorite order and with the newest (post-Soviet) anniversary medals at the top (mostly).

He also has some very interesting badges on the other side...I love some close-ups of those.:)
