Who is the Russian Awards Committee?

Hi,

I have noticed these last months a number of "unofficial" medals issued in Russia by what seems to be a private institution, the "Russian Awards Committee".

This seems similar to the Umalatova process that happened a few years ago...

Who can tell more about it ? ;)

As an example, here is the pic of a doc for the Medal for the 65 Year of the Defence of Moscow, privately issued by this "Russian Awards Committee" (?).

Thanks in advance.

Cheers.

Ch.

new russian medals

Various organisations issuing modern Russian medals are listed on the site З-а З-а-с-л-у-г-и (you'll need to remove the dashes and copy the rest in a seach engine).
Art, sorry, guilty as hell, technically it is a commercial site but how else do I disseminate the link?

Hi Sergei,

Many thanks. I knew this site, but had forgotten it...

It's incredible how many "new" medals are now issued. It would really be interesting to know who is issuing what...

To all, if you have any info about who gathers this "Russian Awards Committee", please post!!

Cheers.

Hi Christophe,
I think I am correct in saying we would all be talking about the same site, I checked the other evening too. The Committee is present but no explaination of the organisation. As always if anything new crops up I'll post it here.
And very true, it's amazing how many Committees/Orgs produce Orders and medals.

Regards Eddie

Thanks Eddie.
In Moscow, in flea markets, you find all these "new" medals everywhere... and "real" ones (Soviet - even recent, and Russian) are now hidden behind them...
And some Umalatova are beginning to become scarce... :D

Cheers.

:wow scarce Umalatova medals who would have thought that a while back.
If I am to be honest I actually find some of these new awards quite attractive and well made, problem is where to start and stop :)

Eddie.

Christophe,
This is all very confusing. One of the awards listed under the Russian Awards Committee is called Орден "Польза, Честь и Слава" (Order Usefulness, Honor and Glory, at the top of their page). Now, on the site Êîíñóëüòàòèâíûé öåíòð ïðîôåññîðà Þ. À. Çàõàðîâà - äèàáåò, îíêîëîãèÿ, ôèòîòåðàïèÿ, ñåðäå÷íî-ñîñóäèñòûå çàáîëåâàíèÿ, îïóõîëè, ãåðïåñ, äèàãíîñòèêà, ìåäèöèíà you find this order was given to Ju. Zaharov 'по представлению Юбилейного комитета ВЧК-КГБ-ФСБ' which in my clumsy interpretation means 'on submission (by presentation?) of the Jubilee kommittee of VChK-KGB-FSB'. I also saw this order on a Russian auction site sold with a 'jubilee committee' stamped document. Several organisations are giving away the same award?

I think, there is no such organization called "Russian Award Commitee". Just some pushful guys issue medals and documents for those, who want to buy them. Once i've bought the medal "for combat merits" (yes, it had the same name, like the Soviet medal) established by one small veteran organization, but the document differed from the original. As I know, these medals are manufactured at the factories with original stamps. Then the medals are sold as souvenirs with fantasy documents signed by "Russian Award Commitee".
