Based on that condition, I agree with desantnik in that how much it is worth is soley based upon how much someone would want to spend on it. I think though that it is probably worth $30-$40 in this condition.

Later Distinguished Labor Medal - soldered or no solder?
I've pretty much been of the opinion that the main "common" silver medals (BM, CSM, VL, DL) should always have a soldered ring on the suspension "ear", and assumed that when this wasn't present or when the ring was not soldered that someone had broken it open. Now I'm wondering if this is correct. In the past month, I've found two DL medals with docs that both had open rings that showed no evidence of breaking and had patinas that perfectly matched the accompanying medal. One of the medals had no suspension, but the other had a one-piece brass suspension that was of the type that cannot be opened. The ribbon and suspension all looked good. One doc is dated 1966; the other is dated 1971. These observations (especially the closed suspension) lead me to wonder if these medals were issued with open rings instead of soldered rings in those last 20-25 years of the Soviet Union. Any thoughts on this?

Brian, can you post photos? I've seen incomplete solders, but they looked like quality control slip-ups.
