Patriotic War II,0448406,Scout,215th Rifle Regiment,179th Rifle Division,Wounds 1945
Here is the long fabled "naked" Order "Patriotic War" II 448406 in the collection. As you can see the star is now gone apart from a few traces where someone once replaced it?

Re: Patriotic War.
I'm sure some money hungry dealer could say that it was "combat damaged" but it is very strange that only the star's rays are missing.
The question is; Replace, leave alone or "colour in" with a felt tipped pen (a red one)?

Re: Patriotic War.
Interesting way to abuse an order...and by the way, has the H&S been replaced with copper?

Re: Patriotic War.
The condition is part of the history of this poor thing. I'd not destroy the history by "fixing" it (much as one might "fix" their dog?). To "fix" it would be a desecration and act of studied disrespect.

Photoshop's Magic Wand Tool is also very useful for cutting out certain parts of a picture (such as a signature). If the contrast with the background is high enough, all you have to do is choose a modest Tolerance, et voila...

Now I have a photograph of the recipient to add to the display.
