Crimean Civil War Flag

Just got in a divisional standard for the 9th Crimea Cavalry Division, from the workers of the Crimea. The flag was given in 1920-1922 after the whites were kicked out. Great condition, a real museum item.

Division was formed in July 1920 in Samar (assuming that its not mis-spelled Samara) from 2nd Turkmen Cav. Division.

I would assume that when the unit was formed it got its standard, so that helps date the standard to Summer of 1920.

I thoght those flags were on display in museums - it's hard to believe that a veteran kept a flag like this in his home!

Most of my civil war flags are from smaller museums that have gone under inside Russia and the Ukraine and even Azerbaijan; sometimes I know where they are from, sometimes not. But for the real high end flags they have to come from the museums as they were all state property and not owned by individuals; I find when I get offered an item like this not to ask questions : )
