Re: Medal "For The Liberation Of Warsaw".

I wonder if the medal in question could be a trade item. Traded with a Soviet soldier the US vet met in say Berlin while both were on occupation duty? Up until the Blockade/Airlift contact between the Western Allied troops and Red Army soldiers was not uncommon . . . It would be interesting to know whether the US vet had a German Occupation Medal . . .

Re: Medal "For The Liberation Of Warsaw".

Without providence one can only speculate. The hearsay of a family member can not be regarded as proof. The veteran could have acquired it any time in the last 65 years if it was even ever in his possession. Now he's gone we'll never know.

Re: Medal "For The Liberation Of Warsaw".

Hi,

two of my medals in comparison to each other. If they are both genuine, what I do believe, the strange thing is, that the first one has gold plating, the other one not, despite the fact that it seems to be the same mint stamp !?

Any opinion about this !?

With best regards !
