Now she one of the reason's the KGB went everywhere the ballet did. They had to prevent foreigners from running off with their ballerinas.;)

As for the KGB/GPW victory medal - that's not the first time I've seen one, but I still can't figure out hwat the point of it is. Anyway, I passed on two today because I thought they were just more of the "cult of Dzerzhinsky" medals. Turns out both were special editions for the MVD made by the MMD and LMD. Research before deciding what to lay your money on - I will get that eventually when I have time to do everything at once.:rolleyes:

Where might one find a reference book on more than just the MVDs and the ones in Avers?

There is a reference book out for table medals:

Table Medals of the Soviet Period, 1919 - 1991 from Shkurko and Salykov. Made 2005, Moscow.

Russian text with brief summary in English.
It shows over 2.000 medals with avers and revers and in most cases how many medals were produced.
