I think the cap is good, but probably unissued storage production.
The embroidery is not as shiny as on the common 99 USD fakes. It has nice shape! |

Thanks for your help Tretov!
I am interested in this cap because I want to complete one of my uniforms, a one star grey walking-out one, air-force. If I am right, the grey cap was used until the beginning of the 80's, and after that moment, the normal parade cap was used... the green for the Armed Forces, and the blue for the Air Force. The uniform I have, is dated 82, so the cap shown at the beginning af this thread would be the correct one? For information, that was the grey cap I was talking about... very bad picture... I do also have a such set; it was one of the first I bought. While the left side is a mess with different holes all over, the ribbon bar is nice and I believe it to be correct. I once had a photo of the uniform when it had all badges, but the guy that sold it to me stripped it of all badges  Plus, someone has at some stage poured coffee over it.
Anyway, what I was to say... hmm. My one is from the seventies and has the gray cap. |

If you find your picture again, I am interested in seeing it! because it is quite rare to find this type of uniform with all the badges. The only illustration I have is in the military manual...
Do you know where I could get the information I am looking for (picutre or text)? to know exactly which cap has to go with the uniform... because I don't want especially to buy an "incorrect" cap... |

It will surely be a challenge to find that image, I have had three different hard drives in my computers since... perhaps it is still located on my old computer. I will check when I get home to Finland later during the week.

... I didn't thought it would be such a challenge... :o
thanks in advance! I found on a site some very interesting information... unfortunately it's a commercial one, so I can not post the link... but here is the text! Air Force, General Parade-Walking Out, 1970-1980 Air Force generals were authorized a special light gray parade walking-out summer uniform in 1954. The light gray cap was no longer worn with the generals' walking out uniform after 1980. Generals were thereafter to wear their normal wave-green (army) or dark blue (air force) parade caps with this uniform. The crown is in light gray fabric, while both band and piping are light blue. Other elements include a gilt cockade with surrounding air force-style embroidered wire leaves, gold embroidered wings, a patent leather visor, gold cords, and general officer buttons. Air Force, General Parade, 1970-1991 Another in the series of extravagant Soviet parade caps. When the foam (or wave) green parade uniform was introduced for the Army in 1970, a dark blue parade uniform was reintroduced for the Air Force (they used this same color from 1955-1958 and before WWII). This matching cap has a dark blue crown with light blue band and piping. A wide expanse of gilt wire leaves is embroidered on the band surrounding a general's all gilt cockade, on the patent leather visor, and on the natural colored leather chinstrap. Gold wire Air Force wings are also embroidered on the crown. General officer buttons, leather sweatband and silk lining round out the cap's features. An Army general who is wearing the green parade cap (like in the uniform regulations book from 1988) and not the grey cap... An Air-Force general who is wearing a blue parade cap with his grey walking-out uniform on Victory day (2005)... Last edited by CtahhR; 04-16-2014 at 01:46 PM. |

I didn't see this thread before, but here's a photo that I took of generals wearing the dark colored hat with the grey tunic. These are army, but air force is the same.

cap
The cap is a nice older version of the Aiir gnerals parade cap, probably 1960's / 1970's. Its a very nice example, I would not worry about it.
