M1955 Air Force Parade Visor.

I just got in this new cap i bought.

I got a good deal on it because the seller didnt know what he was having.
It was by bidding and since he mislabeled the ad i was the only bidder.

I identified it as a M55-58 Zhukov uniform parade cap for a non flying officer.
The crown wing is missing and seems to never have been there, that makes it a non flying officer cap.
All badges seem to be correct and authentic to this cap.

The cap has no date nor the buttons do.
Soley on style and ornaments i identified it.

I will be posting more pictures sone.

Let me know any thoughts on this cap.

Ser-g,

It would appear to be one of those, indeed. It would be nice to see a few more details...

It took a bit longer than i hat intended, but here they are the promised pictures.

As always all comments and thoughts are welcome.

1. Overview of ornaments (visor leafs got lose in the middle, long time ago)
2. Sprongs and attachment inside of ornamentation.
What strikes me is that the band leafs are attached through the band separate.
3. The diamond

For some reason i got a little worried about it not having an date on the diamond.

I had never seen the band leafs attached that way, it is cool and very well constructed.

If I remember correctly, it was in 1958 when all the air force personnel got wings on the cap crowns, but before, there were quite many non-flyers. I even believe they could have been in majority - all the technical officers, flight control personnel, meteorlogists, administrators...

I sold off my m55's a few years ago but I actually do not remember dates on the diamond in any of them. the 55's and 56's were sizes, not years

So you're the one who won that! I hate to contradict you, but you definitely weren't the only bidder :D

It's a beauty though! Congrats! It went to a good home. It's always a treat to find a really nice Zhukov cap.

Indeed they must have been in majority because there was much more support stuff. But when they were allowed a wing in 1957 on the crown most must have done so. Of course it would look cooler to the ladies. Today i find it harder to spot, get or find a non-flying officer zhukov cap, i suspect just because all were added wings when they were allowed of by sellers for what ever reason.

A i know there was another bidder, how funny if was one from our own forum.
I'm sorry that you didn't get the cap, but still for that price i got a bargain. Was there a reason you didn't bit me up a bit?
