Re: BoH Bar

I'm not disputing the provenance of this bar, but as a matter of fact the Lenin Centennial, as a higher precedence award, should be correctly mounted to the left of the Labor Veteran medal.

Re: BoH Bar

Thanks Desantnik.

I did not know that. Possible inconsistencies (such as what you educated me to), as well as the lack of research options are the reasons I thought long and hard over trading an original TR medal for it.

The solitary attribute that won me over to the trade are the evident signs of uniform wear to the ribbons, especially noticeable on the reverse.

Trust me, I wish that there was some solid provenance. Either way, I am happy.

Re: BoH Bar

Hi Paul,

I followed this bar too.
I did not make any offer because I believe the ribbons to have been changed, at best... Some are visibly more used than others...

But nobody will ever know, and the most important is that you're happy.
Last point: I'm sure you got a very good price :thumbsup.

Cheers.

Ch.

Re: BoH Bar

Thanks Christophe. It was a very good price. That is the one thing that stinks about Labor bars, one never really knows. Some ribbons look older than others, but there is a uniform line of wear on the upper ledge, on the reverse.

Either way, it is a cool and realistic combination.

Paul,

Accompanying documents are usually a good place to start...

I agree. Documents would have been optimal, but even those are faked well. The only way to know for sure is a service record, right?

Re: Badge Of Honour.

I think the best you would get would be the "labour booklet" or Communist Party member record card. The latter although often lacking can be great at holding together labour groups. I have one to a labour Lenin recipient.

IMO faking a set of docs to a set like this, although easy, would be hard to be convincing. One would have to have at their fingertips either some top-knotch fake docs, stamps, inks, etc. or a wide range of blank (or bleached) original documents.
