Soviet Cavalry Honor Guard Patch

This is probably the "crown jewel" of my patch collection. I haven't pulled it out in years, so I thought yall might like to see it up close. It was worn on a uniform and I removed bits of the original olive drab thread from the edges.

Re: Soviet Cavalry Honor Guard Patch

Thats a nice patch ,, i know honor guards wear embroidered ones.
I'm not known with this stuff, these are widely faked.

attached to the uniform it was probably worth 10X more !

Kind regards ser-g

I've never seen any other than this one for sale on ebay. I'm sure on the uniform it would be worth 10X plus. I've never seen a fake embroidered one like this either. Perhaps some of the uniform guys can chime in.

Re: Soviet Cavalry Honor Guard Patch

The patch on this uniform was "traditional" in make / design, not like the one you posted. Was a great set, with the guys papers, etc. Sorry that there is no close up of the patch.

Re: Soviet Cavalry Honor Guard Patch

Yes, it was pretty standard when compared to the other patches on non-honor guard uniforms. Can't say I remember much more as it was in and out of my hands in about 24 hours.

Ahh...and dang, that's a quick turn around! Stepanov has two versions of this patch in his book, on page 27. I have only seen the the officer version (with the gold braided trim) in his book.

Embroidered variant was officially used for special parade dress uniform, plastic variant wes officially used for duty or regular parade uniform of privates and NCOs (accordingly to Stepanov's book).
I have not embroidered patch in my collection, so I can't compare but I like pastfinder's one.:thumbsup
