Unknown cap

Hi folks,

i just bought a few new caps for my collection.
there is one in the other thread about russian transport lines.

here i like to talk about 2 caps.

this one was marketed as a Soviet Air Force Officer's Hat 1991 Non Used Excellent condition Size 58..

i know nothing about it and have not yet received it in the mail.

it has a gray top witch makes it remarkable to me.

Re: Unknown cap

Here goes the second cap.

it looks exactly the same as the one above except this one is the army version with red band.

it was marketed to me as Soviet Army Officer's Hat 1991 Non Used Excellent condition Size 57.

the interior is of the well known soviet material were the cap above has the very late or post soviet material on the inside for the diamond and band.

again i have not had this cap in the mail.

Re: Unknown cap

The cords are a bad sign, as usual.

I was just about to say!

If they are not on present day Russian caps the yellow is a sign of a fake at most times. :(
But I have seen these things around and I was so tempted to snatch them up!
If not only because with the proper exchange of cap badge and cords it could very well become a school cap? If I am not wrong on that one.

But yeah, aside from the cords I think they look pretty snazzy. :thumbsup

In the luckily chance I am wrong, they are transitional caps (I guess because of the manufacture year they indeed are;)) and the original cords were used to complete other ones. I´ve been offered lots of late period original soviet caps with those crappy cords.

Re: Unknown cap

Ohhh, I forgot they were late production!
Nevermind then, they are probably legit.
But the caps themselves, they are for a school right? Or an academy of some sort?
They just remind me of cadet summer caps.

Re: Unknown cap

i remember once seeing the air force one with a black strap and enlisted cocarde.
i was told that was a very late maybe not even implanted prototype cap, that was to be tried out at cadet schools.

but i can not conform this in any way.

Re: Unknown cap

Thats the same story I heard.
So perhaps this is the officer/teacher visor?

Who knows.

I'm considering picking one up now.

I guess it´s a transitional model for souvorov cadet schools too, with the wrong cocarde and cords to make it look like a rare cap.
