Comrade Kozlov in the composition of the group of Lieutenant Filippov 4th March 1945 amongst the first of the 2nd Belorussian Front that came to the shore of Baltic Sea in the region of the settlement of Łazy, where they were cutting off the escape routes of the surrounded enemy in Pomerania.

The enemy, seeking to break away from their encirclement, crossed repeatedly in counter-attack, trying to capture the isthmus between the lake Jamunder See (Jamno) and Baltic Sea. Courageously the scouts steadfastly defended the occupied line. All enemy attempts were fruitless. The occupied line was held throughout the day until the arrival of the main force.
In this serious operation Comrade Kozlov showed himself to be a brave and courageous fighter.

For bravery and fearlessness at the exit of the shore of the Baltic Sea, Comrade Kozlov is worthy of award of the Order "Red Banner".

Filippov's group was awarded 13 Red Banners and 22 Red Stars for the action. Lieutenant Mihail Efremovich Filippov was presented for the Hero Of The Soviet Union but was awarded a Red Banner, the 14th for the action.
