Here is one I acquired recently. I know very little about this award, but have always been interested in the partisan movement.

Kind Regards,
Shane Cook.

Nice Cross Shane,
Here is a little more info on this award.

Krzyż Partyzancki "Partisan Cross"

This is a Polish military decoration, awarded to World War II partisans. It was introduced by the Council of Ministers on October 26, 1945.
Awarded to organizers, commanders and members of partisan units who fought against Germans on Polish territory, or to Poles who fought in partisan units in the USSR, Yugoslavia and France, also to foreigners who fought in partisan units on Polish territory. It could also be awarded to cities, towns and villages, that distinguished themselves in supporting partisan movement.

It was awarded first by the Ministry of Defense, from 1952 by the Council of State, from 1989 by the President of Poland. It ceased to be awarded in 1999. About 55,000 Partisan Crosses have been awarded.

It is a gold-plated Greek cross with thin arms, 38 x 38 mm. Obverse shows the eagle in the center (the Polish coat-of-arms) and an inscripition: "ZA – POLSKĘ – WOLNOŚĆ – i LUD" (For Poland, Liberty and People) on the arms. The reverse bears the horizontal inscription "PARTYZANTOM" (To partisans), and the date "1939" on an upper vertical arm and "1945" on the lower arm. The ribbon is dark green, 35 mm wide, with black strips 7 mm wide, near both edges.

In the order of precedency, Krzyż Partyzancki was worn after Krzyż Walecznych.

Eddie.

Wow, Taz, that's some very useful info. You're full of surprises. Do you know everything about every kind of medal ever issued by the former USSR and eastern block countries?

Kind Regards,
Shane Cook.

Re: #20. Partisan Cross

Hello!

I have a question and would be very glad if someone could help me out. As you've allready mentioned this cross was awarded also to foreigners who fought in Poland partisan units and also to polish partisans who fought in Yugoslavia. I'm curious how many yugoslav partisans got awarded with this cross and how many polish partisans who fought in Yugoslavia got awarded with it? Does anyone has these information?

Since I'm collecting Yugoslavia partisan decorations I'd be more than happy to add this piece in my collection. Can you tell me aproximate price of this order?

Can you post some more pictures about the differences between earlier and later variation? In better quality please. How to spot one from the other most easily?

Thank you very much!
Comrade Stane

Hi CS

The later version has a staybrite, non-tarnishing finish and a longer connecting link to the ribbon loop.

See pm for prices.

Take care of fakes, please read the sticky posts in this sub-forum on fake polish decorations.

Best regards Eddie.
