Thank you for moving from the Fake section, Alexei ! With all this Nevski trash in ebay I didn´t want to be anticipating.

Again: I hate rubbing on an order. But what I thought that was an "e" turned out to be just a spot. Put out the microskop because what seemed to me like a "2" hadn´t any rounded line on the top.
The large strong vertical line after the 9 under the screwpost is probably not significant for the text in its full length. On its beginning at the top a horizontal line gones to the right. And at 1/3 of length down there is a light rounded line to the right. That makes a " 5 " So the date is 1954.
After that an X I I or V I I . I´m tending to an V because of the accurate handscratching in the name. An X the writer maybe had done with longer lines underneath the crossing point of the lines. But both dates are possilble.
(Please excuse my londwinded english)

Thank you for the ideas. One thought I had about the letters was By, this tsch ,Y and N is difficult for a non cyrillic reader.

Andreas II

PS: Thank you, Art. I love this downsize programm!

I would like to share with you my first and probably only, Order of Alexander Nevsky. A type 3 with a high serial number of 39020. Will have it researched in the future.

The Nevsky was sent to PMD for authentication. I have received the certificate back. It is my first certificate and hopefully not my last. In any event, it is rated original and every respect and given an 8 out of a 10 for condition. Just wanted to share this with you. Next step: Research!!

Just want to share a couple of pics of my Nevsky, the new baby that arrived today :)

Rusty, it's bigger than I thought after all, only beaten in size by the "Crab" I believe, at least among my Soviet Orders. These pics are better than the ones we saw before ;)

Very high S/N. Any idea as to the year it could have been issued?

Oh, and I posted it here, because authenticity is not in question...

I was told that with such high S/N it could have been Awarded in relation to the events in Hungary, back in 56 I believe. Anyway the research is in progress, will see what happens.

Thanks again,

Dolf

It's possible but very unlikely. I have two orders of Nevsky awarded for Hungary both with numbers 48XXX. But exceptions happened quite often

Dolf,

What a superb piece! :)

I believe they were not awarded consecutively, so you'll have to wait for the research.

Curious pics - disassembled T1 Nevsky order.
Apparently parts were marked inside, this one has "VII".

After all, despite the high S/N, it was in fact awarded for actions during WWII.
As mentioned on that post, these actions took place in 45, I believe the decision to award him with the Order of Nevsky was also from 45, but apparently he only received it in 46.
I'm still trying to understand the info provided on the different docs I got, some seem sometimes a bit contradictory, but I guess it's me who still has to learn how to decode conveniently all that info. :idea

Thanks a lot,

Dolf
