Hello,
a friend bought this sabre in the early 90´s. For what purpose is this sabre and is it an original or a copy? thanks and best regards Andreas |

Re: Soviet saber
Andreas,
As far as I know, this is a parade saber for higher officers (mayor, podpolkovnik and polkovnik). It looks like the real thing from what can be seen. Marc |

Re: Soviet saber
Agree as officer's parade sabre 1948-1955 (according to number of republics on crest). If you unscrew the pommel you will likely find a date on the tang under the handle grip. Nice, apparently unmessed with sword.

Re: Soviet saber
Less than $2400 (because that's what Collect Russia is asking for theirs). Joking aside, market goes up and down for these but haven't seen any in good condition go for less than 1K on ebay in quite awhile.

Re: Soviet saber
Nice saber! Hope you don't have to sell it. And if you do I wish I had an extra two grand to offer. :/

Re: Soviet saber
Andreas,
IMO, somewhere between $750 and $1000 should be right. Marc |
