This is the next step?
This is for me a silver badge with copy shild.
The bad boys have a good originally badge destroyd for some dollars moor:thumbsdown, by placing the shild.
You can recognise these easily. the pins be places on the metal and not on the emai.
The reason for that is that transpiercing damages the emai, or even impossible.

Waht I thinkis is:censored

marc,

This type of badge has been brought up before earlier in this thread.

Could you show a picture of the reverse without the screwplate?

Judging from your current pictures, this is most likely a silver-plated alloy badge, not a sterling silver one. Seeing how the post is attached and what the mint mark (if any) looks like would help ID what it is.

I'd like to bring up something here in reference to the miniature stick-pin badges of a few posts ago. Just food for thought.

I was in the Navy for eight years. The bulk of those years was spent in the far east- Japan, the Philippines, Korea, Thailand, etc., etc. In every port I went into, there were shops that catered to sailors (apart from those offering drink and "horizontal" entertainment). These shops very often would have uniforms and insignia produced by local folks, most of which was anything but regulation, but used by us nonetheless when afloat or on liberty (you would never wear these items for a formal inspection). They most often reflected either pride or desperation in the service, your rating (job specialty, MOS), your rank, or your travels and experiences. A sub-miniature version of, say, the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist badge could easily be found, although no official sub-miniature badge is available.

I guess what I'm saying is if the US serviceman caused the local production of such items, why wouldn't the same hold true for the Soviet serviceman? If there is a market, enterprising individuals will rise to meet the occasion.

I'd still prefer to see the screwpost and nut, and if there is a mint mark, to be sure if the badge is silver or not. The flash used on the camera lights the badge too brightly.

Marc,

It is a late type of badge; I tend to think, as Ibaya mentioned before, that it is silver plated but not made of silver. At that time, they already stopped using silver to mint these badges.

They have discontinued the use of named shields on those badges in 1957, at least officially. At that time all badges were made of silver/Neizilber. So all "shielded" badges made of different metals should be considered fakes?

I have the two backs placed beside each other.
You can once see the one propeller wire give to silver colour other one the purchaser colour.
I now think that it is certain silver and is also use. The points are what worn down.

I suppose I should simply state my point: I don't think post-57 badges with this type of scroll (with pinholes that are drilled at the rhomb border, instead of within the white enamelled area) are necessarily fake.

I can't, however, document the practice of unhappy graduates privately having their unified academy badges modified with scrolls ... just anecdotal information I've heard.

Okay I understand.
Can I ask you, where you have heard that.

I collected here for German weapons W0I and there are also adapted weapons. Those pieces are be documented with photograph.

So this way I think … now is my recall has there someone photograph of these badges in use.

Regards Marc
