Given to: citizens and organizations for their merits and success in all fields of science, education and culture.
Form: Round shape 33 mm in diameter made of yellow metal. Obverse: The image of Cyril and Methodius student Kliment Ohridski, who carries in his right hand a book and in the left one laurel twig. His name is written around the image.
Reverse: an altar flame.
The ribbon of the medal is on a five-sided suspension, dark blue with golden-yellow stripes on the edges.

The Medal "Kliment Ohridski" was instituted on 22nd May 1974 and awarded for merit in science, education and culture.

(Saint) Kliment Ohridski was a disciple of (Saints) Kiril and Methodij (as in the Order "Kiril And Methodij") and as a scholar and intellectual was instrumental in the establishment of the Cyrillic alphabet.
