Andrian Nikola'ev Dead

Just found out that Andrian Nikolayev died today aged 74. Born on September 5, 1929, in the Chuvash Autonomous Republic, Nikolayev became a cosmonaut in 1960. He spent over 204 hours in space on two spaceflights.

Nikolayev made his first spaceflight in 1962, aboard Vostok 3. He set an endurance record at the time, spending 4 days in space. In 1970, Nikolayev flew aboard Soyuz 9.

He achieved the rank of Major General.

I just took a walk with my new puppy and met a couple who moved here from leningrad in 1988; i told them about Nikoliev. It was odd, as they were probably the only people in 100 miles who knew who he was!

I owned one of Nikolayev's uniforms many years ago. If I can find the pic I have of it, I'll post it up.
