Tal,
I'm still exploring the book, and I'm not really familiar to its layout. There are a few pages of group photos of Ordenskaya Knizhkas of all the Republics towards the front. Regrettably, the authors placed all their emphasis on the award certificates, and nothing else but these few group photo type images of the order books.

Order "Red Banner Of Labour".
Here is a new acquisition, from Baku.
Order of the Red Banner of labour of Azerbaijan ssr, numbered 194, circa 1929. Excellent condition and one of the most beautiful of the Republican orders Last edited by CtahhR; 02-12-2012 at 01:50 PM. |

Comparison
There is currently one for sale by one of the big dealers.
The reverse looks very comparable. The averse, however has some inconsistencies between the two pieces. The other difference is that the one pictured above is No. 129 and the dealer has No. 47. Also, for a 1929 piece it is in excellent condition. The one that the dealer is selling (for $4,600) is in a much worse condition. Assuming this one is real, was it kept in someone's jewelry box all these years? -Eric

Eric,
This was indeed kept locked up (by my land lady in baku) Her father (she is now 60 something) was awarded this and did not return it (apparently many who attempted to, were subsequently targeted during the stalinist purges). Anyway for the past 4 years i tried unsuccessfully to get her to sell it, but she always refused. However recently she was offered quite a large sum by a russian dealer, and she finally decided to let me have it, rather than him, (you will honour this, but the dealer will only sell it, her reason). To cut a long story short, got it for approximately 30% of the price the dealer tou said is asking. PS would you pl. send me privately the website of the dealer Shiva |
