Short, concrete description of his combat feat or merits:

Serving with a pontoon’s operational crew, Guards Private Yeryomenko was the first to deliver a pontoon, enabling a landing on the right shore. Under heavy enemy fire comrade Yeryomenko worked for three days and nights straight without leaving his pontoon.

On October 24, 1943 ammunition needed to be delivered to the right shore of the Dnieper River. Even though it was already dawn, comrade Yeryomenko on his own initiative volunteered to go. Despite his visibility and the enemy fire he delivered the ammunition and handed it to the infantrymen on the right shore.

He is a bold and decisive guards pontoneer, displaying maximum bravery and initiative. He handles the tasks assigned to him in a heroic manner.

A brave guards pontoneer, he deserves the Order of the Red Star.

Commander of the 2nd Guards Independent Motorized Pontoon-Bridge Battalion
Captain [signed] /Loktayev/
November 1, 1943

I award the Order of the Red Star.

Commander of the 4th Dnepropetrovsk Pontoon-Bridge Brigade

Ruiz,

Does it have a screwpost base or is it simply some weird patina pattern?

Hello Marc !

A weird patina pattern, uniform all except around the screw. No repair.
Best regards.
