Found an Uncommon Cap

Hey all-

I recently bought this cap online. It's a 1992-dated student's cap. These don't come around too often. I know the star isn't supposed to be there. I think it's interesting how the sweatband is a stiff felt-like material rather than the usual kind. A few questions:

Does anyone know what the grey color combo means (versus the blue usually seen)?

And, does anyone know where I can find the right badge for it?

Re: Found an Uncommon Cap

So no one knows what the color combination means or where the correct cockade can be found?

The rest of the cap displays all the Soviet-era features so it's not really similar to modern Russian Federation caps...

What is the date on the label?
The cap looks like alate variant (1989-early 1990s) cap for students of the technical profesional schools - I would guess the badge should have shield with letters "PTU" in a wreath, they are fairly common (and offered more often than the caps themselves), but don't know where You can get one right now.

Thanks for the info. It's 1992. I'll keep my eyes open for the correct badge. I wonder why they changed the caps from mostly-blue to grey.

Well, a rather insignificant-on-the-global-scale socio-political event occured on 26 December 1991... :laff

Looks like someone knows their geopolitics..ha

In one year a lot can change in the world. Sadly for the Soviet Military Awards Page Forum, one years difference means a post getting buried as a thread in a forum that no one looks at.

Oh well.;)

It is a shame that so many are blinkered.

A bad workman always blames the tools.
