Badge "Distinct Worker Of The Ministry Of Internal Affairs".
Now this one is an odd mix to me. I was under the impression that Belorussians use the same alphabet as the standard Russian one. However, this badge appears to have writing more like Ukrainian than Russian (and the screw plate has what cold be Polish markings - but then they are neighbors).
The real question for me is what is this for and what does it say? I thought I saw this badge in History of Awards and Honors of the Russian MVD (1802-2002) but I can't seem to find it just now, and even if I could, it still won't tell me exactly what this badge says. I think it is "For ??? Service" in the "МУС" - their equivalent of the MVD, which would mean that it's not an academy badge.:doh Now the question of authenticity arises, but I don't see what would be gained monetarily from a post-Soviet Belorussian MVD badge. Phillip

Re: Belorussian academy badges
Thank you. Any thoughts about where it might be from, say Minsk or Brest?

Re: Belorussian academy badges
The screwback nut is not Belarussian, I'd guess Polish. As to where the badge is from, it is a ministerial award so applicable to anywhere in the country.

Re: Belorussian academy badges
Phillip,
I believe that this would be more or less the Belorussian equivalent to the Russian "Otlichnik MVD". Marc |

I have an identical badge! It is official and the language on the obverse is Belarusian but the screwplate certainly seems to be Polish, but that wouldn't be unusual in western Belarus.

The screwplate is not Polish. Looks Czechoslovak or Yugoslavian, but since the city name (Jablonec n. N.) seems to match city Jablonec nad Nisou, I would guess this screwplate is either Czechoslovak or modern Czech
