Re: Alexander Nevsky,Koenigsberg,24725
It is definitely nice to see the actual award when possible.:thumbsup
This one is certainly a great example of how detailed some awarding recommendations were. He also has an impressive set of of awards - which is why I think he got a bad deal with having to settle for another Nevsky instead of an ORB. And then he had two HSUs sign off on the original(?) recommendation of an ORB. Not fair, I tell ya!;) Phillip

Dear Mr. Ericanov, in April of 45, the 5th Army went into the STAVKA reserves from the 3rd Belorussion Front. Thereafter, they moved to the Far East. Therefore, you are rightsky.:thumbsup

Re: Alexander Nevsky,Koenigsberg,24725
After having done this research I've checked my collection of scans and found pictures of the recipient's second Order of Nevsky. I wish I knew where I got them from. At least we know that it still exists, so there is hope that the group can one day be reunited.

These are from Eugene Rabkin's site. This order was on sale there 3 years ago (asking price then: $2850). Marc |

Re: Alexander Nevsky,Koenigsberg,24725
Norm,
Prices have seriously come down these past several months, due to a small inconvenient event called "economic crisis" (which, despite the many reassuring statements from our enlightened leaders, certainly isn't over yet). One is for sale in "a leading dealer's" upcoming auction with an estimate of $3000. As you can see, it may be time to either send Sparky back to the mine, or (God forbids) sell him :D Marc |

Re: Alexander Nevsky,Koenigsberg,24725
Nevsky 10.560 is definately worth less than $10k, not even half of that. It's still a lot of money, but I would really consider trying to get the other award. These two Nevskys together are definately worth something more than simply the cumulative value of the two single awards.

Re: Alexander Nevsky,Koenigsberg,24725
And the historical value of a reunited group, even partially reunited, would greatly exceed the financial value.
It is criminal how many groups have been shamelessly ripped apart to feed the hungry "market" and anything we can reunify is a great service, though so few try and even fewer succeed. |

I wonder, did these long lost brother Nevsky's ever find each other again?
