No offence here Alex F., but you might no be as unbiased as you claimed since the dealer involved here has its logo and link to his website in top of your list of recommended links on your own website.
None taken. The links are in free order, actually, I didn't put any special meaning in that... :thumbsup

Don't worry about it Matteti, many of us have had bad dealings with this Dealer. I believe you:thumbsup

We should be treated with respect wiether we are buying a $10 order or a $10,000 order. This dealer does not. :thumbsdown

There is one dealer who always treats you with respect no matter what you are buying or asking about. Even if it is a stupid question, stick with him, he will eventually have what you are looking for. (We all know who I am suggesting, it is the only dealer I buy from now in the USA.)

I don't see this discussion as trying to advocate blacklisting dealers. This hobby requires dealers, so people will naturally discuss their experiences with the various dealers. People can take the stories at face value, or with a grain of salt, etc. People who support questioned dealers can offer their views. It all adds up to a robust discussion that makes everyone a little bit smarter in the end, which is good for all of us.

Nack, that's my point exactly :thumbsup
But as you can see, some still persist that the grass is always greener...

The point here is, as other members mentioned before, that:

1- this dealer has deceived quite a few collectors by selling fakes. This is a fact, not a virtual story. Plenty of pictures of these fakes are available on different Forums to confirm it.

2- this dealer is most of the time rude, unpolite, arrogant... This is a fact, as mentioned by many collectors in different Forums. I had myself exchanged a few emails with him years ago when I started collecting so I know what I'm talking about!

3- the horror stories about this dealer abound in different Forums like this one, so this is also a fact that too many collectors complain about this particular dealer. If only one or two stories one could think it might be the result of some personal misunderstanding, but given the amount of stories from different collectors and the fact they are always about this same dealer, and not about any other dealer (as well as the fact I had my own bad experience with this person) brings me to the conclusion these are true stories.

So, maybe some of us might have never had a bad experience with him, but in no way that can be a reason to deny the horror stories others have experienced and wish to share with their fellow collectors!
Personnaly I have deleted this dealer from my list immediately after that incident years ago, so never bought him one single piece, and I can assure you that didn't in no way limited my collecting capability! Plenty of other people to deal with over there, either on E... or simply from our favorite 100% trustworthy, reliable and friendly dealer.

Just my two cents,

Dolf

the end

And this is how the saga of my 20 yrs good service KGB medal in silver ended. I will omit the 'juicy bits' where the dealer and I are engaged in mutual accusations and will only post an extract from the dealer's reply. And please do not ask me the name of the dealer, this story kind of hurts.

Dealer:... Here is the answer on our issue. I did make a mistake and described medal from 1960's made in Newzilber, as medal made in 1958 in Silver. But I did quite the correct price, as my medal worse the asking price of $60. ...I am very sorry, but it leads me no choice but to state that this is our very last transaction. period.

There you go. S**t happens. I was hoping to add a silver KGB medal to my small collection, that's all.
Sergei
PS I thought I was a cheerful kind of guy until I saw this in response from the dealer:
"Didn't I show you your inconfidence? No one fooled you. What happened called missdescription or misscataloging. If you are unhappy with your life, not put that stuff on a dealer, at least not on me!"
Jesus Christ! The medal is worth 60 bucks! I donate more to charity every month!

Sergei,

I think I can pretty much guess from this message who you got the medal from. Sorry, my friend!

Sergei, this guy's just a dick. Stay away from him. I think I have a spare silver KGB and will have access to it next week. Send me a PM to remind me and I'll look for one.

Sergei, I am sorry to hear that you also had a very bad experience with this horribly bad seller (I am holding myself not to say bad words to describe him). After 6 months of emails, phones and letters saga, I didn't need him to tell me it was the last transaction with him! I just wish it never happened at all.

I really understand what you can feel. Don't give up buddy, there are many extremely honest and respectuous sellers members of the forum here. :thumbsup
