Labour Booklet.

They existed until 1991 and after. I don't know if this was generalized, but I have a document which was issued in 1973 and inside which there was an insert containing entries going up to 1998!

My mother-in-law which is living in Ukraine also used her soviet worker book for many years after collapse of SU. I believe she is still using it. If I am right, this is how the people can prove they accumulated the number of years (working stage) required to get pension or to show your qualifications when you apply for a new job.

last inscription in the insert.. 1998

Gents,

This was pehaps the most common document in the Soviet Union. Every employed person had one (not sure about farmers), and they are still in use in Russia today.
