Short description of personal combat feat or accomplishment
Career Seaman Doronin has been in combat since the first day of the Patriotic War in the Baltic Fleet on the ship “Strogii”. Doronin was among those on the shore in the defense of Leningrad when it was threatened. In December 1941 he received his first serious wound while fighting for Leningrad. In February 1942 after having healed, Doronin was in the 7 Marine Brigade on the Kalinin Front. Having been seriously wounded again, he was once more sent to the frontlines in Novorossisk in the 76 Marine Brigade. While there as the deputy platoon leader, then later platoon leader, he defended Novorossisk and repelled the Germans from the Caucasus. Comrade Doronin received there light and serious wounds, as well as shell-shock, and spent a long period in recuperation. After beginning to recover, he worked as a platoon leader in the medical instructor course. Accompanying the medical instructor command, he remained with them in the 47 Army and since February 1944 served as a medical instructor in the UPEP-194 and 105 ASR [trans: unknown organizational abbreviations]. Despite his wounds and shell-shock and serving only at 80% capacity, he has personally participated in medevacing the wounded. Under the difficult conditions of March 1944,by his initiative and energy he personally contributed to the evacuation of thousands of wounded and has received repeated congratulations from the Command.
He is deserving of the Order of the Patriotic War II Class.
