I have a new small group that I have got the first part of research back, I have also had his service record which states he was wounded 3 times; 1942, 1943, 1944 once seriously wounded in the scrotum as was a P.O.W from august 1944 to december 1944. he started his military career in the 242nd Convoy Regiment of Ministary of the Interior as a rifle man, then served with the 714th Rifle Regt as a rifle man then in the 82nd Rifle Division as a Toxic Warfare Instructor, then the 78th Rifle Regt as a rifle man then after he was liberated as a POW served in the 1694th AA Artillery Regiment as a gun layer. I have found this very intersting that he served the whole war which included a 5 month period in hospitial for a serious wound and was not medicialy discharched.

Here is the original citation which was unsurprisingly missed from the original post.
Matvievskij was actually awarded for shooting down an ME-109 and not for being wounded nor being captured. His only wartime award.
