re: Fake Orders of Nevsky

Andreas,

I am split over this one. I like the reverse: MM, engraving (although usually this specific one is not found in this SN range), texture. However, the medallion has "peculiarities" that make me uncomfortable with the whole thing. Might it be the case that the base is original, but the medallion was lost and replaced by a privately made one?

I sure would love to hear Alexei's opinion about this order.

Marc,

I also like the MM and the s/n, and I have seen similar engraving style in this range. Other than that I can't tell anything from these pictures. The obverse certainly looks suspicious, including the star. This piece needs to be properly authenticated.

re: Fake Orders of Nevsky

Hi,

I think the order (No. 10011) itself is ok, but it has seen heavily repair measures; most of the enamel has been replaced (by cold enamel as it seems) and the rivets have been re-fixed by using lead solder.

Furthermore it has been heavily polished on it`s surface/ obverse.

The type is quite rare, so someone will have to consider, if the demanded price fits the "remains" of the order.

Thanks Jens,

It is for sale for $1100. Might be a bargain for this variation of Nevsky but it is not in a nice shape... Hard descission...

Marsino, I'd like to think so, but why the oxidation is so different on the medallion and the surrounding base rays? The reverse does not show any oxidation at all. It looks like the oxidation was specifically applied at the center.
