Fake KGB and "Egg" Badges - Page 5

Hi guys,
What do you make of this?
Some kind of heavy metal, bought it in 1994 in Kishinev. Leningrad mint nut, but no mint mark

These are another type of current fakes. The flat back and hex-nut are tell-tale signs and the front looks good from a distance but does not compare when seen with an original.

While the flat back and nut gives it away there are a few clues from the front alone. The gold star is not a separate piece - it is on the originals. The ribbon bar, on the ones I have seen, seems to be covered in a sort of glaze, it i somehow convex in fact. On the originals there is no glaze over the enamel and the enamel is mat and flat. You can actual feel the metal letters if you feel really carefully.

I have an impression that I have seen these offered for sale as genuine badges not too long ago.

I found these same badges same numbers whilst surfing these are also for sale on a very big American site. Same numbers...going for 195 dollars in the copy of awards section.

I have looked again the pictures posted above come from that site with the name removed, that would explain.

At least they sell them as copies. The problem is that sooner or later somebody will try to pass them as genuine badges. I also sell fakes from time to time, but mine will always have an "F" engraved on the reverse.

Guys,

I've seen many KGB Badges, but haven't find pics of this one, which I believe is KGB, right?

Can you please help identifying it and also please let me know the current average price for this piece?

BTW, the red mark on the top of the hammer is a scan effect. And the "band" (?) around the Badge is in dark blue.

It's a fake/fantasy piece, you'll find them for +-3 USD on the net.
If you want I can send you pics of real ones.
