For Bravery,0259163,Signaller,3rd Airborne Guards Artillery Regiment

Hello!

I found a medal For Bravery with serial number today. Is possible to find out name of the holder?

I don't know if I should write the number to everyone when I see those duplications:)

Hello Min Taur,
That is a great finding. Where did you find it? The main question if there were sodier's remains together with a medal? If so, you may help to find a real name of another "unknown soldier". I have some friends among Russians "diggers" who are looking for "unknown soldiers" and trying to restore their names through Russian Military Archives.
It is hard to see serial number, but it definitely starts with 25. Also I can see number 1 in the middle. So it is like 25X1XX. According to the number this medal was issued sometime from March to June 1943.

Hello!

Nota Bene: Thanks!

I found this medal in the Czech Republic in a former field camp. There weren't any remains. It looks like that soldier lost or threw up it.

There was an unit of the 38. Army I guess after 9th May 1945.

I don't know if I can write that number to everyone. But you're right - there is 25*1**:)

My serial number data bases indicate your award was probably given in summer 1943.

MinTaur,

Have you tried to unwrap that paper?

I would definitely have this number researched through the Russian MoD archives.

Question about a Bravery Medal

I'll add my 2 cents to this conversation...PLEASE Research!!! This one should have a very interesting story behind it. Andrey, a most Noble effort on the part of your friends to search for the remains and restore the names of brave men and women to the Rolls. Hats off !!!

Best,
Doc

Thanks for your comments!

There were only some scraps of a paper. The medal was probably wrapped in the newspaper. There's only one readable word (something like "Krasnoarmejec" --> "Red Army man").

The complete number is "259163". I would be thankful if somebody can identify the name of the recipient or other circumstances. If not, I'll try to contact the Russian Embassy in Prague.

MinTaur,

If it's not too much to ask, could you please post some pictures of both sides of the paper.

As I said, there are only small scraps with incomplete words.

Here are some photos of the paper. I thought it could be a granting decree or scrap of the newspaper.
