Strod Family
This family group (mostly paper) has been mentioned in passing in other threads, but there was the request that I post it in more detail. I'm happy to do so. I think there's an interesting story here.
There are many facts I still need and I am sure that those with better Russian skills than mine (which would be almost anyone) can tease more information out of what I am posting. I would appreciate whatever assistance you are able and willing to offer. It may take a while to get this all done, please bear with me and don't be shy about breaking in with comments. First, the father. Yevgeny Stanislavovich Strod Some photos of him in various uniforms (1, 2, 3). Last edited by medals73; 09-13-2011 at 06:03 AM. |

Re: The Strod Family
4- With friends or family? And the scribbles on the reverse.
5- Service in what I believe to be (see document below) the 23rd Armored Car Detachment. |

Re: The Strod Family
6- A crowd from that same unit and a close-up on what I think is him (right-center).
7- One of his friends? (Closeup follows.) |

Re: The Strod Family
Closeup and fiddling of the arm badge on the previous photo.
8- An envelope (only, no letter) which was, for some reason, preserved as a part of the group (I am being rigirously complete here.) |

9- Another envelope.
No onto documents, some in pretty fragile condition. If I don't show the reverse, it is blank. 10- unknown (to me) |

Re: The Strod Family
And the reverse of that last one.
11- He was apparently called to military service in 1915 from or in Vitebsk Province, and this is basically his notice of Red Army service from the Petrograd Soviet on 27/14 March 1918. 12- From the 23rd Armored Car Detachment, 28 August 1919 stating that per the undersigned (Commander and Adjutant) of that unit, the bearer Red Army Private Yevgeny Strod serves in the higher position within the unit of a reserve driver, for purpose of identification this is issued to him 28 September 1919. |

Re: The Strod Family
17- And another.
18- And, apparently, he found a way to put his wartime skills to use in peacetime: driver's license? |
