This is a copy of the Order of Sukhbaatar. I can for sure state that brass, low quality copies/reproduction of the Orders of Sukhbaatar that sometimes surface on the market have never been officially awarded.

If the brass Order of Sukhbaataris a copy, does that mean that original gold and platinum ones are still awarded?

I was offered 2 different fake variations of SB last week. One of them for 800 USD (!!!!!)

While I'm happy that the fakes are so easily identifiable (they were also presented as fake, not as real), it just flabbergasts me why somebody would go to the effort to produce a piece of "crap".

Added to the same question, there's cheaper versions of Order of Red Banner and Combat as well - and I think there was speculation whether there was a similar SB as well. Are these all "fakes"?

Yes, the Orders of Sukhbaatar made of silver, gold and platinum are being awarded these days. The serial number range is now from 2100-2200.

The brass Order of the Red Banner of Combat Valor, brass Order of the Red Banner of Labor Valor, brass Order of the Combat Valor and brass Order of the Polar Star are official. They are produced at the Mongolian Mint. As of now, this not the case for the Order of Sukhbaatar as the President's Office still have some stocks (thanks to the tradition of less common award practices for this order). We can just guess what will happen to this Order (metal composition, gold, platinum, etc) after the authorities will run out of the stocks. But I hope that they will keep the standards.
