Help needed.
The medal Merit for country was first out 1994 after all I have read. All pictures I have have a medal with the year 1994, until now. I was sent a picture with a medal with year 1993!!!. Is this a fake? Are both medal fakes or just the 1993. I need all help I can get on this one. It has a high number 500 something. On my other pics there is also an M in front of the number on the military issues with swords but not on the civilian type. Both these medals lack that M. Answer after your best thoughts. Best

Sovvisor,
I am not really a specialist in post-Soviet awards, but this medal was established in 1994. I also know that many Russian awards are very commonly faked. Alexei |

Medal Of The Order "For Merits To The Motherland".
Are these pieces genuine? I think so. The trouble is the first class. It has the same ring as the suvorov medal.
Best wishes

Comrades,
Sovvisor's medals look genuine... Tal's are "Collector's Copies" I've seen a real 1st Class one and the enamel looked as good as older Russian enamel. Rusty.

Nota Bene
I agree with you on Tal´s scan. The medals looks like a fake. The serial number is not even put on the prepared line! It looks like the patina is artificial.

Sovvisor,
I am not so sure. I have seen a documented medal that a believe was genuine, and the ring was a little different. Alexei |

Rusty,
Nice! Notice that the inside of the loop is not perfectly round - this is for some reason very typical for current manufacture. Alexei |
