Re: Fake Orders of the Patriotic War 2nd Class
If I were to guess, I'd say that the star comes from the authentic 1st class, and the background was either made by the owner after selling the original one, or much later by some faker, and thus is a fantasy.

Re: Fake Orders of the Patriotic War 2nd Class
Jens,
I don't think anything based on these pictures. All I can say is that it pretends to be a converted T1. Marc |

Andreas,
Can you please send me hi-res pictures by email. Also would you measure precisely the suspension (width, height, thickness, thickness of the edges, sise of the plate between the two horizontal slits). Can you please take the ribbon off the suspension and post pictures of the front and back. Marc |

Re: Fake Orders of the Patriotic War 2nd Class
Hello,
I do not trust this one; the patina looks somehow oily, the sawing traces on the handle of the saber are too crude to be real (especially when looking at them on the reverse), I can recognize some lead-looking spots on the star tip at the lower left (also reverse...) and the digits of the serial number do look strange too. Altogether, I think it`s a (quite dangerous) fake. Jens Last edited by Shocktrooper; 10-07-2012 at 11:07 AM. |

Re: Fake Orders of the Patriotic War 2nd Class
Andreas,
The enamel star is genuine and corresponds to that SN range. However, I suspect that some/most/all of the red enamel has been replaced as the white enamel shows signs of overheating. I tend to like the silver back star. The engraving seems consistent. The patina is definitely fake, which is understandable due to the work on the enamel. Marc |
