The 'White' Chinese

Hi all
I have a small medal group to a Red Army dentist. Research shows that he joined up in the Far East in 1928 and was present during the Lake Hasan conflict and the Finnish war. What I am interested in is that his biography it states he was also involved in the fights against the 'White' Chinese in 1929.

Who were the White Chinese and what were they up to?? I'd love to know.

I would guess those that served Chaing Kai-shek and the Koumintang are the whites. Like during the Russian Civil War with the Bolshevik Reds and the Tsarist Whites, the Soviets used "Red" and "White" to show the difference between their fraternal communist brothers (Reds) and the anti-marxist/imperial forces (Whites). In China's context, Red would mean the forces under Mao Tse Tung.

Many armies that fought against Soviet Russia were called Whites. There were White Poles, White Finns, and so on.
Russia has built railroad (KWJD) in northeastern part of China in the beginning of XX century. During Civil war in China this railroad and its personal were attacked many times by anticommunist forces. Red Army participated in protecting and guarding KWJD.

His biography does say something about a railway, but I can't remember what just now.
I have attached a pic of his group, just cause it's nice :)

Both awards are for long service, so I guess he never got to fix Zhukov's teeth :D
