I have completed my acquisition of medals and orders and now want to place them on my uniform. According to my research this is what I came up with.
I'd like comments on how close this looks.

Thanks,

Phillip

The order of precedence on awards is correct. However, they would look more accurate in a parade uniform (your uniform is a service one, so it should have ribbon bars instead of the awards) and, since it has an HSU, a nice order of Lenin as well.

Well, first of all, your jacket is a service jacket with full medals mounted on it. Assuming you are trying to create an M58, replace the felt collar tabs with the parade collar tabs with gilt edging. Replace the boards with gold parade ones. But, if you are trying to create a veteran's uniform, leave them alone. They didnt always follow regs. The rank is Major, and your academy badge is for junior officers, but I'll let the experts decide on that. You have some post 1970 (End of M58) medals but as I stated above, I am assuming this is a veteran's uniform. the medals would look better if mounted, rather than pinned on individually. I am also attempting something like, but it is an East German uniform with Soviet medals and badges of both nations. Its for a Soviet paratrooper being trained to be an officer in East Germany.

That's what I'm looking for.

Willie and Estaban, that is the type of feedback I am looking for. Thank you. I do have the order of lenin, a repro, and I do have the medal bars but I need to decide which medals I am going to use since the bars are not big enough to hold all the medals, or maybe I'll just put them on individually after the bars are full.

My other question is, is the placement of the orders on the right look correct?

I will look into the collar tabs and shoulder boards, or might leave it as a
veterans uniform. It depends on the cost of the tabs and boards.

As a major, would he have definitely have gone to a more advanced academy?

Or is the one he has reasonable?

Would he have been allowed to wear the commemerative badge for his sqaudron on his duty uniform? If I present it as a veterans uniform, I guess that is a moot point.

Thanks for the input, I am getting so close to being done, I can taste it. I have the shirt, tie, tie clip, and headgear for this uniform, so I am anxious to complete this part of the research to get it on disply. I might even go so far as to get another mannequin for this impression, since I like it so much.

Also, what do I call this? A collection, an impression, a hodge, podge? It is not a named group, or any kind or related group. As I said before, I don't want to misrepresent what it is.

Thanks for the help,

Phillip

I always thought that the badge for advanced officers (the white badge) was for col and above? I have always had a hard time getting info on what badges go where.

I'd call the set-up a display :thumbsup It's virtually impossible to get a group of medals and uniforms from a single person, so no one will label you a fraud.
