Theatre props Soviet awards
Copies of Soviet awards as used in theatrical performances:
These definitely will not fool anyone, maybe from the distance only. Last edited by CtahhR; 07-31-2013 at 01:51 PM. |

New World,
Are you sure that these are props? I've seen Soviet made props and they are much better quality. Alexei |

I have one of the RSFSR Reb Banners shown above too.
I also heard that it was a theatre prop. Apparently theatre and not film. Film props were good but theatre props could be cheapo. However, this is all rumour and hearsay. Alexei? |

Someone showed me these pieces and said they were props. i am just repeating what I heard.
I think from the distance they look OK, which is exactly what you need for the theater. I don't see any other use for these repros. |

Gentlemen,
The reason I have doubts is that during Soviet times one could probably get prison term for mutilating Lenin's face like this. Besides I don't see any reason for making decent props for the movies and ugly ones for the theatre. Knowing how centralized the Soviet economy was they were probably made in the same place. It's just a guess, of course. I also remember that in the early 1990s copies like this were actually sold as genuine Soviet awards. Alexei |

Alexei,
Most likely you are 100% correct. However, if someone was trying to sell these cheap copies as genuine awards - he was risking a chance to have his own face mutilated :) |
