I found this picture when I reorganized my apartment today. A rainy day back in september 1992 i visited St. Petersburg - and at least the fasade of Mondvor building inside the fortress. Not as glossy as the picture Tal Inbar put up here some time ago. But all the same: This was as close as I could get...

When I visited the LMD back in 1996, they had a really cool display on how they made the coins and medals in the 'church' side of the fortress. I don't know if it was still there, but they had a bunch of the original dies for coins and medals (though mostly coins). I remember getting 'up close and personal' with the LMD building itself- it reminded me of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory... "No one comes in, no one comes out..."
