A little bit of a breakthrough today! Unit and additional information is still being obscured.
"For the period of combat deployment at the front in the staff of snipers of the commander of the regiment, in the defence section of the 635th Rifle Regiment, 170th Rifle Division, 48th Army from 07-06-1943 to 08-07-1943 showed himself morally and politically sound and a disciplined sniper. When attacking the enemy, behaved courageously and steadfastly, in this battle he destroyed 3 German soldiers. For the period of combat deployment destroyed 5 soldiers and officers"

The archives now indicate that he was serving in the 19th Rifle Brigade Of Internal Troops Of The NKVD.
