Two examples:
1. The document, dated 30 April 1945, from Zhukov to Stalin reporting that the Soviets took the Reichstag and at 14:25 raised the Soviet flag on it.

2. Prikaz by the last Commander of #Berlin, General Helmuth Weidling, ordering Nazi forces the immediate cessation of the battle.

Pieces of History. Outstanding!

While it is not the first study into the senior leadership of the NKVD, this is the first time that everyone – from the investigators to the executioners – has been identified. Законодательство СССР. Библиотека нормативно-правовых актов Союза Советских Социалистицеских Республик. Полное собрание - 20000 документов. Свободный и бесплатный online доступ. СССР.

You may have already seen it, but there's some pretty useful stuff on there.

Cheers,

First you need to find out which Ukaz you are looking for. That will be the date under where it says "Указом Президиума Верховного Совета СССР" in your award booklet and NOT the final date of the booklet. Not all booklets have the Ukaz date so they are still unable to be researched to any extent.

Once you have the date which will be a single or double digit followed by the Russian name for the month and then 19## you are ready to go to the site.

Here is a list of Russian months for you to copy and paste into the site to make things easier for you.

January - января
February - февраля
March - марта
April - апреля
May - мая
June - июня
July - июля
August - августа
September - сентября
October - октября
November - ноября
December - декабря

The main area is Here. You may be able to navigate from here using google translate if English is not the language you wish to use I'm sure you can change it to one of many others.

Here are links to individual years. If you need 3rd April 1966 click on 1966 then search "3 апреля 1966".

1966 1967 1971 1972 1973-1974 1975 1976 1977 1978 1979 1980 1981 1982 1983 1984-1989 1986]]>

The site is not perfect but never-the-less it is the greatest weapon in the arsenal for easy, free and legitimate research.

As it is a Russian website the website text is in Cyrillic Russian and not Latin English. ALL of the citations are either hand written or typed in Russian and also only available in a picture format, so you can't copy and paste the information into online translation programmes.

So here is how you need to go about researching someone.

Firstly you need a name. Find one you think might return a "hit".
Here is a randomly chosen hit from my collection.

A Medal Booklet for a Medal "For Bravery". As we can see, there is only a single entry. This means we are looking for someone who only was awarded 1 award during the war.
