Here is a quick guide to attaching pictures to your posts. Not a difficult task but it may be troubling someone who has not done it before.

Firstly find the box at the bottom of your reply or new post labelled "Manage Attachments". Click on it and a new window will pop up.

This new window allows you the load up to three attachments. Click "Browse" to find the image on your computer. A new window will pop up allowing you to browse your own files.

Find the one you want and double click on it. Then click "Upload".

The image will now upload and resize itself. Clicking "Close this window" is not necessary but you can any time after the file has uploaded, unless you choose to upload another image using the same process.

That's how to add your own images.
It is with a mix of sadness and happiness that I decided to sell the website and move on to another stage of my life (home ownership).

I appreciate the dedication shown by those who stayed longtime members during the good times, and the not so good times. Those who helped as moderators are the best of the best, and my hat is tipped to those who went the extra mile as moderators to keep the forum running as it should.

Good luck to all of you. If I could turn back the clock and do it all over again, I couldn't have picked a better group of guys to have as friends during the adventure we had here.

I took great pride in knowing that despite our geographic and political and religious differences, we managed to remain united as a group of friends interested in sharing information. It was a genuine honor being a part of that.
Brooks has assumed ownership of the site and forum. He is a very technically savvy guy and I fell better knowing that The Soviet Military Awards Page and Forum is and will be, in good hands.

Here is a guide on where to post new additions in the "Soviet Military Awards" section of the forum. It should be very simple for anyone to use.

Please take a minute to study it if you are questioning where to post.

The colour coding is as follows;
Green, Start a new thread.
Red, Use an existing thread
Brown, Possibly a new thread or a continuation of an old dependant on subject matter.

This shows 7 options for starting a new thread, 13 options of continuing an existing thread and 1 could go either way.

This will hopefully help everyone not only in posting new items but finding where old additions to the forum are.

Here are a few simple guidelines for posting in this subforum to make things easier for all users.

#1 Please try and post in the right section. Some nations are split into subsections such as "Medals" if you have a Medal from the particular nation put it in the "Medal" section.

#2 Unless posting groups please try and put only 1 award in each post. This makes it easier to comment on the particular item and also easier to move the post if it is incorrectly placed.

#3 If you know the name of the item in your post in its own language please add that to the post.

#4 Remember that the language of this forum is English and when creating new threads please refer to the subject of the thread in English, You can refer to the subject matter in its native language in your post.

#5 If you have an item in your possession that you are photographing for the subforum please post pictures of both sides of the award, this saves other users from having to ask and yourself having to retrieve an item to photograph it again.

#6 If you are taken with an item and would like to add it to your collection either; 1. Post a marketplace WTB or 2. Ask for a source in the general talk subforum. This frees up threads from off topic back and forth discussion and it is likely that more people will see your desire.

I would like to thank users for applying these guidelines to their posts and also remind everyone that with the exception of this thread ALL threads in the Soviet Bloc category are open and current. If you wish to add to a thread in which the last post was in 2004 for example, please do not hesitate to add your opinions or facts on the subject.

Members,

January 2010 will mark a new generation for the VBulletin software that is used for this forum. VBulletin 4.0 will be released late this month and this forum will make the transition to this software early in January.

Unfortunately, the Classifieds section and the Serial Numbers Database are NOT expected to survive the transition as it appears they are not compatible with the new VBulletin software. If a replacement is needed for these, be patient. It will come as soon as it can.

The forum will be online and offline sporadically during the upgrade process. The appearance of the forum might change also. I'm unsure of exactly what will transfer over during the upgrade process and what will not. Again, be patient.

Thanks
All the items you see are now live and available for you to bid on/purchase. The only exception are the items in the "Marketplace Test Section". Here you can post test items just to practice before you list a real item.

The system is very intuitive. Any questions feel free to ask.
