Does someone know if copies of this medal exist? What is your opinion about mine? original or copy?

Thank you!

Their medals were seriously uninspired, and this one is no exception. It simply says: "For Long Service" on the reverse with the SNB imagery on the obverse. In fact, I'm not sure the ribbon is original since it seems identical to other service medals I posted above.

This was a "strange bird" organization even less enthusiastic about being under the guidance of the KGB than the Polish security service. Regardless, they put out a few medals and I am always on the lookout for them. Incidentally, if anyone knows of more SNB awards, especially badges modeled after the KGB design - or any design for that matter - please let me know.

Of all the Cold War-created state governments, this one intrigues me the most. Even Andropov admitted that the "Prague Spring" operation by the KGB was one of its lowest points and though he was widely praised as head of the KGB and the man who signed off on the tanks and troops taking Prague in 1968 from the alleged pro-American conspirators at the time, he regretted the action for the remainder of his life.

In fact, I am curious if anyone knows of any badges for SNB service similar to KGB, Bulgarian KDS and MVR or even the spectacular Romanian Securitate badges. I've seen ones for the Border Guard, but not the actual SNB security service (not to be confused with the ZNB - the MVD of Czechoslovakia).

The first is without a flash and only auto brightness. The second is with the flash and the last is color "enhanced" to show what it might have looked like if the white of the flag's colors had ever actually been white.:)

Since these are not easy to find, I am more than grateful to the seller for not checking a certain NJ seller's site for pricing on the police version of this security service medal.

By the way, if anyone knows of other SNB awards and where I might at least see what they looked like, I would appreciate a PM with a link.:D

I'm beginning to think that it isn't so much a problem of SNB awards not being available as sellers not knowing what they are and listing them incorrectly (the medal was listed as a "Czech military medal").

But, my real question is would this be the equivalent of the Soviet "Strengthening Military Cooperation"?

Also, in a related matter, I never got an answer to my question about Eastern Bloc medals unlike this one with no actual device on it to pin the medal on, then how does/did they do it? (I see the pin on this one, but I have others from Poland and Romanian with nothing but ribbon.)

Thanks in advance,
Phillip
