Does anyone recognise the medal/insignia pinned over his right pocket? Is it from the Russian Army?

my friend found this czarist badge but nobody knows more about it. It could be from times of Catherine II.

Could anybody help us with identification?

Size 8x8 cm

(I'm sorry, but I didn't find better category than this one)

Thanks!

The first one is a 500th anniversary of Saint Sergey Radonezhsky medal.

The second one is commemorates Saints Nikolas and Nevsky, and has what looks kind of like Moscow's Christ the Savior cathedral on the reverse (the one Uncle Joe razed in the 30's, and the mayor of Moscow recreated in the 90's). It think it's from 1887, but it's hard to read. I could also read the date as 1827, but find it unlikely it would be so old.

EDIT: A friend of mine who is into militaria things found me a badge that could be one of the things near the right breast pocket. That badge would be the Imperial State University graduate badge. But which Imperial State University? Is it even possible to find out which? And what's the white thing?
