LANTAKA SWIVEL CANNON EARLY 17th CENTURY BRASS/ BRONZE For Sale
LANTAKA SWIVEL CANNON EARLY 17th CENTURY BRASS/ BRONZE:
Early 17th century Lantaka swivel deck cannon. Made of brass/bronze, it is very heavy, we estimate between 170-200 pounds. Most of these cannons you see are labeled 17-18th century, because they are not sure, this one has been confirmed as early 17th century due to the crest on it. It's 3ft 11 inches long, so this makes it bigger as well as older than other cannons you will see listed, it has spent a considerable amount of time at the bottom of the ocean. Its likely this was on a merchant ship, and could have been used to fend off pirates. A dealer confirmed the crest identifies this as early 17th century, but it's not possible to link it to the exact ship that it was used on. Similar items that are smaller and not as old have sold for roughly $8000, we are starting this at $10,000 or best offer, and we will pay the shipping/insurance to have come to you. Local pickup is also available in Houlton, Maine. Delivery MAY be available in the New England area, please message for details. There are not many of these at this age, size, weight still around, the probability of you seeing another one is very slim. It would make an excellent addition to your collection.
