$19.98

Now available to you, the original uniform buttons that were once sown onto the World War 1 uniform of a regular soldier of the German Imperial Army (Deutsches Heer).

These rimmed buttons depicted the Imperial Prussian Crown - the model was based upon the Crown of the Holy Roman Empire and was kept in the Hohenzollern museum at Schloss Monbijou in Berlin, until it disappeared during World War II. It has never re-surfaced.

The infamous gray uniforms of the German soldiers worn across the muddy trenches of Europe in the Great War were known as the "Feldrock". These were made of a material called Tuch, which was a heavy wool in "Feldgrau"(green-grey) colour. The original combat uniforms included 8 buttons fastened to the front and 1 for each left and right pocket. In early war uniforms, the sleeves were also cuffed with 3 buttons on each sleeve.
